Founded on a Purpose

From $0 to $150M
in 21 Years

Spartan Motors takes its name from the Spartans of ancient Greece — known for their simplicity, common sense, and unwavering dedication to purpose. Those same virtues have guided every chassis we've engineered since 1975.

What began as a single fire truck chassis in Charlotte, Michigan became the industry's most trusted name in custom diesel Class A motorhome chassis — growing from a handful of employees to a company powering the dreams of owners across North America.

In 1995, Spartan celebrated 20 years of engineering and manufacturing the world's finest custom chassis. Today, we celebrate 40.

More Than a Chassis

A Community Built to Last

From the beginning, Spartan knew that building the finest chassis was only half the mission. The other half was building the finest ownership experience in the industry.

The Spartan Chassis Club — founded in 1989 as the RV Chassis Owners Club — grew to over 8,000 members by 1997. Members gather at shows, rallies, and the annual convention in Charlotte, Michigan, where Spartan was born.

By 1997, Spartan had grown its on-site service staff by over 300% since 1993, introduced a toll-free "Customer First" hotline, and pioneered "Notewriter" software giving service technicians instant access to every chassis's complete bill-of-material history — no matter where in the country you were parked.
